In
1976, Rev. Caretha Brown
began working as a volunteer in the jails, counseling
and helping women to fine stability in the community
upon their release. What Rev. Brown found was that these
women had a difficult time finding jobs because they
lacked the skills necessary to obtain employment. In
addition, many of the women found themselves homeless
with no where to go. They were drug addicts and prostitutes
with multiple medical needs, including HIV/AIDS.
In
1985, the vision to provide long-term residential care
for these women became a reality and Living Hope International
Ministry was established. Click

Living
Hope International Ministry, Inc. is
a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide
Transitional Housing and Outreach services to hurting
women. We give them the opportunity to change their
lifestyle and recover from chemical dependency, abuse
and a dysfunctional life through the program services
that we offer. Our goal is to help them break the family
pattern of dysfunctional living. The
“Children of Hope” program provides services
to the children of incarcerated mothers and help bring
the family unit together.
Our
goal is to enable the woman who is often an ex-offender
to break the recidivism rate, to break the generational
pattern of dysfunction and to assist the woman to become
a good citizen, parent and provider for her children.
In
2001, the organization served 3,318 women in our three
fundamental programs
which are the focus of the organization: 1) New Beginnings
Home, treatment facility, 2) New Beginnings Outreach
program and 3) Community Outreach program, provides
teaching and counseling in jails, seminars and workshops
in the community.
The
New Beginnings Treatment home provides a home like atmosphere
with discipline, companionship, with a degree of privacy
and unconditional love. Activities are designed to assist
in the overall change of the individual, thereby insuring
the development of the whole person.
